The object of the institution is to provide trained and efficient nurses for case of sickness both in private families and amongst the poor. Candidates of a suitable age and character are selected by the Ladies' House Committee as Probationers, and will undergo a year's professional training in the Kent and Canterbury Hospital. The scale of charges for sending nurses to private families will be on the same basis as in other similar institutions. The committee attach very great importance to the provision for supplying nurses to the poor gratuitously. A district nurs is now provided. It is for this object that annual subscriptions are urgently needed, as gratuitous nursing will involve considerable expense.
